timber....

Earlier this year Nathan Oldfield and his beautiful family, Sage and myself traveled to NZ to test ride a range of historically accurate handcrafted timber boards by both Paul and Sage Joske. We took with us a range of fishes,a log,a hotcurl, 3 alaia's and a KiKo'o. The picture above was taken by Nathan Oldfield at Manu Bay, Ragland. this is me slipping into to a sneaky one on my 8'9 alaia, what a joy.....

PJ Special

My friend Luke ordered a board off me recently and we based the board on an old single fin my father loved riding in 1970.

Paul Joske Circa 1970 at Mullawarra riding the original board.

I love searching through our stash of old templates. Anybody who knows my dad well know's how particular he is with documenting surfboard information.

Also found an old Stylar brand blue tint. Was really happy with the colour.

Luke with his new board, just before we slid into a few fun waves.

Trim Line

My father Paul Joske made me this alaia replica from one of the boards he saw in the Bishop Museum, Hawaii. It is 8'9" and made from a single slab of paulownia.

The underwater shots were taken by my friend Andrew Kidman and shows how the alaia moves through the water and how the rail interacts with the wave.
